Who we are
Director’s Funding Source (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a Houston-based assignment-funding firm that advances cash to licensed Texas funeral establishments against assigned life-insurance proceeds. We are not an insurance company, life-settlement provider, or viatical-settlement provider.
What this policy covers
This policy describes how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect personal information that we receive through our website, our intake forms, our client portal, and the documents that funeral homes share with us in the course of an assignment-funding transaction.
Information we collect
- Funeral home business information (name, Texas Funeral Service Commission license number, address, phone, email, designated contact).
- Decedent identifying information (name, date of death) provided on our public intake form.
- Estimated funeral contract value provided on our public intake form.
- Documents you upload through our authenticated client portal: the assignment of insurance benefits, the death certificate, policy details, and beneficiary information.
- Limited technical information (IP address, browser, pages visited) for site security and analytics. [REVIEW WITH COUNSEL] confirm analytics vendor choice and disclose accordingly.
We minimize collection by design. We do not collect Social Security numbers, full policy numbers, beneficiary financial account numbers, or cause-of-death information through our public forms. Those are submitted only through our authenticated portal after onboarding.
How we use information
- To verify that an applicant funeral home is licensed by the Texas Funeral Service Commission.
- To verify a policy and assignment with the issuing carrier.
- To fund approved assignments and collect from carriers.
- To respond to your inquiry and provide ongoing service.
- To meet our legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- To detect and prevent fraud, including stolen-identity claims.
How we share information
We share information only with: (a) the issuing insurance carrier for assignment verification and payment; (b) our service providers (e.g., document storage, e-signature, banking) under contractual confidentiality and security obligations; (c) law enforcement or regulators where required; and (d) legal or accounting advisors in confidence.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
We maintain a written information security program intended to satisfy the FTC Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314), including encryption of customer information in transit and at rest, access controls and multi-factor authentication, vendor-management requirements, an incident-response plan, and staff training. [REVIEW WITH COUNSEL] confirm program scope before publication.
Retention
We retain assignment files for the period required by our funding agreements, our auditors, and applicable law, after which records are securely destroyed. [REVIEW WITH COUNSEL] document the specific schedule.
Your Texas privacy rights
Subject to verification and lawful exceptions, Texas residents may request to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal data we have collected from them, and may appeal a denial of any such request. Email privacy@directorsfunding.com to make a request. [REVIEW WITH COUNSEL] confirm the specific TDPSA language and appeal mechanism.
Breach notification
If we determine that a security breach has compromised sensitive personal information of Texas residents, we will notify affected persons in accordance with Tex. Bus. & Com. Code §521.053, and the Texas Attorney General if 250 or more Texans are affected.
Children
Our services are directed only to licensed funeral establishments and their authorized representatives. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
